Structure

Mentors play an integral role on the team. Although we have only three mentors, we still get a considerable amount of support and advice from them, allowing us to successfully get through the season and keep a cohesive and recognized team. Nonetheless, we try to keep our team mostly student operated, in order to teach the students the vital skills of management and organization.

Every member of our team has a specific responsibility and task. There are four leadership positions on our team: two Co-captains, a Build and Design Leader, and a Head of Programming. These individuals are required to be responsible, resourceful, outgoing, confident, dedicated and creative. Communication within the leadership is paramount to our team's great relationships and progress. Students who plan strategies work with the build and design team to fabricate the best robot. The programmers work with those involved with electronics to ensure its smooth operation. The website designers work with the rest of the team to best represent Montclair Robotics to the FIRST community and other supporters. The captains are responsible for organizing meetings, ensuring the productivity of their fellow teammates, public relations, recruiting new members, and fundraising.

Since our team is mostly comprised of seniors, we strongly encourage the younger members from the FTC team to actively participate in all of the FRC activities. As a part of this, we designate them ceratin tasks (e.g. basic fabrication) which teaches them the necessary skills required to become a full member of the FRC team.

These are just some of the many characteristics that our team members exhibit and illustrate in order to create a successful, fun, and functional team.
