About Team 555
Montclair Robotics Team 555 is the FIRST Robotics Team (FRC) of Montclair High School located in Montclair, NJ and is currently in its ninth year of competition in the FIRST program. Since our rookie year in 2001, Team 555 has grown tremendously, both in terms of its size and possed level of skills and knowledge. In 2005, the Montclair Robotics Team won multiple awards. At the Arizona Regional, Team 555 placed first. In the New York City Regional the team placed second and received an award for website design as well as sportsmanship. The team also was honored with the Johnson & Johnson Sportsmanship Award at the national level. In 2007, we won the Denver Regional and the following year, in 2008, we won the New York Regional. Last year, Team 555 once again shined at the New York Regional. We were honored to be picked by and given a chance to compete together with the top seeded Team 2753 as we made it all the way to semifinals.
Though our accomplishments through our engineered robot have been great, we pride ourselves in something greater. Over the years, we have become a model team that is strongly involved in outreach programs, mentoring new teams, spreading the message of FIRST and inspiring both members and others to pursue careers in science and technology. Over the years of our team’s existence, we have gone from promoting the learning science in technology among ourselves, to promoting it among our high school, other teams at other schools, our local community, and FIRST sponsors.
Although Montclair Robotics is based within our High School, we consist of more than an FRC team. We have proudly established our team as a
combination of FRC, FTC, VRC, FLL, and Jr. FLL members throughout the
Montclair Public School District.

Our primary sponsors are based within the montclair community. For many years we recieve funding from the Montclair Board of Education, the Montclair Fund for Educational Excellence, the Montclair Society of Engineers, and Josh and Judy Weston.
